"I now have offers from North Dakota State, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and South Dakota State," Iowa tight end Shaun Beyer explained to the BisonReport. "I visited NDSU last Thursday and it was awesome as they offered while I was there, so that was pretty exciting."
Beyer saw all the NDSU have to offer last week while on an unofficial visit.
"My mom and I toured all of the facilities and had a tour of campus as well," Beyer said. "We also talked to some academic advisers and were able to meet all of the Bison coaches and go out to eat with some of them. I talked a lot with Coach Roehl and Coach Klieman and they're great guys. Coach Roehl and I talked about their tightends and the program all together. Coach Klieman talked about his past in coaching and we talked about me and my athletic athletic ability, plus what I could do for the team there. That's when he offered me as a tight end. He liked how athletic I was when they saw me live and how I can make plays with my size."
The Bison are now among the Iowa tight end's favorites.
"I really like them and they are definitely one of my top schools," Beyer told the BisonReport. "I really like the coaches there, plus the facilities are top notch. I liked the campus and the fan base is awesome. I also think it would be a good fit for me if I were to go there. I'm looking at making a decision sometime after the season as I want to go on a few game day visits to see what it's really like on game day. I want to get to all the schools that have offered me, plus Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska. I don't know if I'll be able to get to all of them, but I will be at an NDSU for sure. NDSU is in my top group with Illinois State and Northern Iowa. Both of those programs are successful and I grew up going to UNI games. I also enjoyed camping at Illinois State, so we'll see what happens."
