ALERT: QB Chris Streveler moving positions?

Gophers quarterback Chris Streveler be moving positions very soon? Gopher Digest's Ryan Burns thinks so and discusses why with Scout's Amy Campbell.

Minnesota's back up quarterback Chris Streveler was brought into Minnesota as an athlete who's primary position was quarterback, but that may soon change. Streveler has played wide receiver, tight end, h-back and quarterback for the Gophers here in the past week and with less than two weeks until the Gophers open against TCU, what position will Minnesota fans see him at? Gophers head coach Jerry Kill is still trying to decipher that same question.

"He gives us a tremendous weapon in a lot of ways, and he showed that tonight," Kill said last night. "I've never had a player able to play that many positions and not have to teach him anything. He's that smart because when he played quarterback, he studied the whole thing. He's just competitive. Somebody looked and said he's like a Tim Tebow-type guy. He's lined up at tight end. He's lined up at H-back. He's played quarterback. He's that smart. That's a real weapon for us. If there's something unique that you needed to know, that's something unique. He did some great things."

Freshmen Demry Croft and Jacques Perra have shown well thus far in fall camp, what does Coach Kill think about the No. 2 QB spot?

"We haven't talked about it too much," Kill said. "We know what (Streveler) can do at quarterback. He came to me this summer and wants to play. He's just a great team player. He never complains. He goes, 'Is there anything I can do to get on the field?'"

With injuries already starting to pile up at tight end and wide receiver for Minnesota, could Streveler be on the move to help fill some voids?
