"My dad and I were talking about everything last week, probably on Tuesday or Wednesday and we decided that Minnesota was the place for me," Calhoun said to GopherDigest. "We were weighing all of my options and we both agreed that the Gophers were my best option and I called Coach Kill then. We talked for a little bit and when I told him I wanted to commit, the first thing he did was make sure that this was the decision I wanted to make and it was. Then he got really excited and we talked for a bit about about my season, but I'm real excited to be a Gopher now."
"The coaches, facilities and players really made this an easy decision for me," Calhoun told GopherDigest. "The atmosphere and vibe I got from the coaches immediately after I got off the plane on my official visit was amazing and I felt that way on my entire visit. I also really liked the facilities and the stadium, plus the players were awesome too. My host for the visit was Jonathan Celestin and he's from Georgia too and he kept it real with me. He told me the coaches are always honest with the players and really care a lot about them no matter what. That was big for me."
Calhoun will be an immediate impact player at guard for the Gophers next season.
"The Gopher coaches have told me that they think I can potentially play as early as next season. Minnesota wants me at guard and they've told me that throughout the entire process. I've played tackle the last two seasons, but I'm hungry and ready to compete coming in January. I want Gopher fans to know I feel good that I have a new home in Minnesota and Go Gophers!"
