The Gophers win a tightly contested game 10-7 over Kent State to improve to 2-1 on the year

Minnesota gets their second win of the year on Saturday beating the Kent State Golden Flashes 10-7 at home.

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota improved to 2-1 on the year this afternoon winning a defensive struggle 10-7 in front of more than 52,000 fans at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday. Gopher LB Cody Poock finished the game with a team-high ten tackles for the Gophers including a tackle for loss, plus junior safety Kunle Ayinde played a great game as well finishing with five tackles and two pass break ups.

The story of the game was both team's offenses, which couldn't get going. The Golden Gophers finished with 288 yards of total offense, including 184 through the air and only 104 on the ground. Minnesota averaged over 2.4 yards per rush today on 44 attempts as the offensive line could get going and Minnesota struggled through the air as well.

The Gophers are hoping to turn around things on offense starting next week, which is homecoming for Minnesota as the Golden Gophers face off against the Ohio Bobcats at 2:30 CST.
