EVANSTON - Minnesota loses their Big Ten opener this afternoon on the road against the number 16 Northwestern Wildcats 27-0. The Gophers only managed 173 of total offense and Minnesota made a switch at quarterback in the fourth quarter and brought in true freshman Demry Croft burning his redshirt.
Minnesota's defense starting out well, but just got worn down on long drives from the Northwestern offense.
The Gophers only had 99 yards through the air and 74 yards on the ground on 33 carries. Minnesota has to get some momentum going on the offensive side of the ball next week against a 1-4 Purdue team on the road before coming home to face Nebraska in their B1G home opener on the 17th.
