Safety commit Elijah Daniels is solid to Minnesota following his official visit

Florida safety and Minnesota commit Elijah Daniels enjoyed his time in the Twin Cities this past weekend on his official visit and spoke with GopherDigest about where things are at following the visit.

"I had a chance to bond really well with the coaching staff and those guys are down to earth," Elijah Daniels told GopherDigest Monday morning. "They're just good overall people. I talked a lot with Coach Sawvel and Coach Claeys and Sawvel sat down with me and my brother and watched some film with us. He was just telling me about the system and the places he would have us at. It's perfect for me and my brother there. They want to use me as at the strong safety spot to cover the slots and tight ends and also help out with the run fit. That's exactly how I like it, so it's perfect."

Minnesota's interim head coach had some works for Elijah during the weekend.

"I spoke to Coach Claeys about just everything. Overall, he had a great attitude and we were comfortable with everything he was saying. His message basically was he wants us to come up and make an impact early and as long as he's there, they have the same mission as Coach Kill. Just to come out and turn this program around and we can make that happen."

The game and his host made the weekend even better for the Florida defensive back.

"My host was Dior Johnson and he's a crazy man like me," Daniels said. "We bonded so quickly and had a great time with the players. Just can't wait to get back up here for good. My favorite part of the visit was for sure the game. The atmosphere was awesome and the fans are great. The fans love the Gophers. They are involved in the emotions of the game and ride with the team win or lose."

The Gophers still have a strong commitment from this Daniels brother.

"Well I don't see why I would leave (Minnesota)," Daniels explained to GopherDigest. "The situation is a little ugly, but these coaches are great and they are going to put us in the best situation to be successful. I'm in. As far as Dredrick and Minnesota, if it ain't the Trio, it ain't nothing, so you take a guess. He's all good with us. I want Minnesota fans to stay tuned as "The Trio" is about to turn up some things around up in the Twin Cities."
