"I've decided to commit to Minnesota," Arkansas defensive back Kiondre Thomas told GopherDigest on Wednesday night. "I'm a low key type of dude and I don't really like all the attention, so I'm just going to send out a tweet about it. Minnesota has been recruiting me the hardest and I believe Coach Sawvel can make me a great player. Plus, my official visit went great, so I knew I had to pull the trigger."
New head coach Tracy Claeys called Kiondre on Wednesday night and was in for quite the surprise.
"I told myself I'd commit if they kept the same coaching staff at Minnesota and he called me tonight saying that he got the job, so I committed," Thomas said to GopherDigest Wednesday night. "He said it was great news and he was excited to have me. He wanted me to tell Coach Sawvel and Sawvel told me he's looking forward to coaching me. We're going to talk more about it on Thursday as he was helping his daughters with homework tonight. Minnesota wants me as a corner as the coaches say I remind them of Eric Murray."
After decommitting from Louisiana Tech on his official visit to Minnesota and with the flip the Gophers complete, Thomas is now done with recruiting.
"Recruiting is over for me and the second time around, my recruiting was better as it wasn't as hectic," Thomas explained. "I knew what I wanted to do and that was become a Gopher. My mom is cool with Minnesota as well, so I want fans to know that I'm glad to be a part of the Gopher family."
