"Everything is good with Minnesota as Coach O'Brien came by earlier this week," Gophers OL commit Sam Schlueter said to GopherDigest. "Coach Claeys also called to let me know that he really wants me to stay at Minnesota and then explained why he made the decision he did, and promised me that he's going to find an offensive line coach that fits the program and values of the team. It all sounded good to me and I believe what he said. He's hoping to have a coach in sometime before Christmas."
Schlueter is ready to get to know new head coach Tracy Claeys better this weekend.
"The thing I'm probably looking forward to most is being able to spend the whole weekend there and getting to know Coach Claeys more," Schlueter explained to GopherDigest. "Just being around all the players and everything are things I'm ready to do again. I haven't had a chance to talk to Coach Claeys much and spend a lot of time around the players, but being able to spend the whole weekend there gives me a chance to really get to know them. My parents will be coming with down to the Cities as well."
The Gophers OL commit has spend the off-season getting bigger and stronger.
"I've been doing a lot of lifting and just trying to get bigger and better. Doing everything I can to be prepared for the next level. I'm 6'6" 280 lbs now after losing some weight doing the football season. To the Minnesota fans out there, tell them I say Go Gophers!"
