2016 four-star quarterback Seth Green has committed to Minnesota

Minnesota has secured a commitment from four-star quarterback Seth Green this evening following his official visit to the Twin Cities the first weekend of December.

2016 Allen (Texas) quarterback Seth Green announced this evening that he has flipped his commitment to the Minnesota Golden Gophers following an official visit this past weekend. Green becomes Minnesota's first quarterback commitment in the 2016 class after Tony Poljan and the Gophers went their separate ways. Green is also a December graduate and will be on campus for Minnesota in January.

In-sight from Texas Scout analyst Gabe Brooks:

"The first thing that stands out about Green is his size. At 6-foot-4 and almost 220 pounds, he possesses fantastic size for a high school quarterback.

Green is a dangerous runner who combines impressive athleticism for a big QB prospect with the strength and ability to gain yards after contact that are reflections of his build. As a passer, Green shows good overall velocity and a live arm with good strength for downfield throws. His raw talent should mean that he possesses a high ceiling at the next level. In the meantime, he can improve his accuracy, his technique, and overall consistency.

Green moved prior to his senior year to national power Allen High School, Scout's defending national champion and a program that has won almost 60 consecutive games and is seeking its fourth consecutive state championship in the state of Texas' largest classification.

He's played the majority of his snaps as the team's second-team QB backing up junior Mitchell Jonke, but he has nevertheless gotten plenty of snaps, as evidenced by his statistics through 14 games. Green has thrown for 1,375 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 74-for-132 passing (56 percent). Green is Allen's second-leading rusher with 869 yards and 10 scores on 9.0 yards per carry."

Evaluation from this past summer:

Green will be playing his senior year at super power Allen High in Texas after playing in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see how his game translates as the school seems to run a similar offense as to what he will play in college. He has good size. Works well outside of the pocket. -Powers
