"This past weekend at Minnesota, I really got to spend time with the coaches, players and all the food was probably the best part," Gophers OL commit Sam Schlueter said to GopherDigest Sunday evening. "I really enjoyed Fogo de Chao last night and it was probably some of the best food I've ever had. My host for the visit was Bronson Dovich and I knew him before the visit from all the times I've been over to the U, so I'm pretty good friends with him. He's really cool and I thought he was a great host. We just talked about how things have been going down at the U and he showed me more around campus and he really explained what college life is like at Minnesota. Everything he said sounded good to me."
Schlueter also spent a lot of time with the Minnesota coaches.
"I talked a lot with Coach O'Brien and Coach Claeys," Schlueter explained to GopherDigest. "Coach OB mostly just talked about the program and how he wanted to figure out more about me and get to know me better. Coach Claeys just talked about what their program is going to be like and that he's going to carry out what Coach Kill started. He also explained that he's very excited for me to get on campus and to coach me. I think they're both very good guys and are great coaches/ They're going to keep Minnesota going in the right direction. My mom and dad had a great time as well. They really enjoyed the whole thing. Claeys also said he hopes to he'll have an OL coach by Christmas."
Gopher fans have nothing to worry about with Schlueter going anywhere.
"I'm still strongly committed to Minnesota," Schlueter told GopherDigest following his official visit. "My favorite part would probably have to be going Fogo as what would an offensive lineman like better than all you can eat meat? I also tried to talk a lot with Trystan Castillo and Garrison Wright and I think they had a great time."
