Iowa Western community college defensive tackle Merrick Jackson decided to become a Gopher Wednesday night after having an in-home visit with Minnesota defensive line coach Jeff Phelps. Here's what Jackson said about why he decided to pull the trigger on Minnesota.
"Toward the end of my recruitment, I've been trying to decide between two schools, Iowa State and Minnesota. But after having a visit with Coach Phelps and after talking to my family, friends and former coaches, I've decided to take my talents to Minnesota! I'd like to thank all the coaches at all the schools that've recruited me, but most of all, the coaches at Minnesota. Ski-U-Mah!"
Jackson accounted for 70 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 12 games last season for Iowa Western. Jackson will have two years to play two for Minnesota.
