Minnesota Official Visit Primer 12/12: Offense

GopherDigest's Ryan Burns breaks down Minnesota's five official visitors on the offensive side of the ball for the December 12th recruiting weekend for the Gophers.

Wide receiver commit Phillip Howard

The latest: Howard has been committed to Minnesota since late March and he hasn't wavered since. Howard has elite speed and quicks and GopherDigest projects him as a more explosive and faster KJ Maye.

What he says: "I can't wait to see campus again and hang out with all the guys."

Offensive line commit Matt Kegel

The latest: Kegel committed to Minnesota back in early May over Oklahoma State and has been solid in his commitment since. Kegel will be joining his former teammate and current offensive lineman Bronson Dovich this weekend.

What he says: "I'm most excited to go to Fogo de Chao. That's pretty self-explanatory, so that's what I'm waiting on already."

Offensive line commit Conner Olson

The latest: Olson also committed to Minnesota in early May and has completely shut down his recruiting since. No reason to think that the Monticello native will end up anywhere but Minnesota.

What he says: "I'm already looking forward to the food we'll be eating all weekend. Can't wait to be on campus again."

Athlete commit Tyler Johnson

The latest: Johnson had a stellar senior season as he accounted for 60 (!!) total touchdowns and led his team to the state championship game. Johnson has shutdown his recruiting and will be a Gopher come signing day.

What he says: "I'm just looking forward to having a good time and checking out how my life will be for the next few years."

South Carolina offensive line commit Lloyd Cushenberry

The latest: Minnesota was able to setup an official visit last week after an in-home visit with Coach Sawvel and the Cushenberry family. The Gophers are capitalizing on the fact that South Carolina just got Will Muschamp in place and they can sell immediate playing time in a big city as well. Mississippi State, Tennessee and South Carolina are all in hot pursuit of the Louisiana offensive lineman, but Minnesota gets the last crack at Cushenberry before the dead period starts Monday.

What he says: "I'm really looking forward to see what Minneapolis is like and how nice the city is up there. Coach Sawvel has told me a lot about Minnesota, so I'm excited to visit!"
