Louisiana CB Coney Durr commits to the Golden Gophers

Louisiana CB Coney Durr committed to the Golden Gophers tonight and recaps his decision with GopherDigest.

"I decided to commit to Coach Sawvel today," Louisiana CB Coney Durr said to GopherDigest Saturday evening. "I'm really excited to be a Gopher now and I'd say the biggest reason I decided on Minnesota was because of Coach Sawvel. Him and I have a great relationship and I feel comfortable with him and that he can help me become the best player I can be and the best person I can be. I haven't talked with Coach Claeys yet, but he's going to give me a call here soon."

Durr talked it over with his parents and made the decision earlier this morning.

"My parents and I made a pros and cons list about Minnesota and Kansas State and I just knew I wanted to go to Minnesota," Durr explained. "My mom was a little worried about the distance, but she knew how much it meant to me to head to Minnesota, so she's good with it. She's met with Coach Sawvel a few times now, so she's comfortable. I already told Zo (Craighton) about it and he's excited that I'm coming up there with him. I know I have to get Lloyd in the fold with us now."

Minnesota is getting a player in Durr who may be playing right away.

"Coach Sawvel says I'm a versatile guy who could be playing as soon as next year," Durr told GopherDigest. "I could play some nickle next season, but he thinks I could play anywhere at the corner position. I'm all done with recruiting now and won't be taking an official visits elsewhere. Ski-U-Mah!"
