"I chose Minnesota because It's has been a dream for me to be a part of the program," In-state athlete Danny Pietruszewski said to GopherDigest. "Gopher sports have always been a huge part of my life growing up in South St. Paul. The U also has great tradition with walk-on's and offers prestigious academics. I couldn't pass that up."

Pietruszewski called the Gophers recruiting coordinator this morning.

"I spoke with Coach Glasscock to commit as I had a meeting with him the other week and we went over the process of being a PWO at the U," Pietruszewski explained. "I enjoyed everything that he had to say and he said they enjoy my abilities as an athlete and believe I can be an asset to the team. They are undecided at the moment as to what position they want me at, but they are they are thinking either outside backer, safety, or the H back position. They will evaluate me this summer and put me where they believe I can help contribute to the team."

The South St. Paul athlete has another connection to Minnesota.

"My mom and dad are extremely proud of me, plus my mom use to work in the athletic department at the U so I like to say gopher football has been a religion at my house since I was a kid," Pietruszewski told GopherDigest. "I am grateful to have my parents and they are very happy in my decision to attend the U of M. I haven't set my official visit to Minnesota yet, but I believe they'll be bringing us in in January for that. I'm thinking about majoring in Kinesiology or Physiology as I really enjoy the sciences and the University offers great programs for both majors. I'm all done with the recruiting process and I would like Gopher fans to know that I will be honored to represent the University of Minnesota and the future is bright with all of the talent I will be a part of for the 2016 class."
