"Minnesota is getting back heavy on recruiting me," Alabama quarterback DeMarcus Williams said to GopherDigest. "I talked with offensive coordinator Jay Johnson on Sunday and he's talking like I have a chance. He feels like there's a spot left open for me because they watched my film as a staff and they all were amazed by it. He said the head coach likes the fact that I could play another position, but Coach Johnson wants me as a quarterback. He'll be down Friday to meet with me."
Williams is excited about this new Big Ten opportunity.
"I think it's a great new opportunity for me, "Williams explained to GopherDigest. "Johnson wants me to take an official visit up there, but we're going to talk about that in person on Friday. I only have an official visit set to Jacksonville State right now and that's for next weekend, so an offer from Minnesota would mean a lot. It's a division one offer and that'd be huge."
The Alabama quarterback knows some about Minnesota.
"I know that Minnesota has the Mall of America and I like that because I'm a big shopper," Williams told GopherDigest. "I know it gets cold there and that the Vikings play on their field. That'd be cool to play on the same field as Teddy Bridgewater. I'm really only considering Minnesota and Jacksonville State even though the Gophers haven't offered yet. If I like Minnesota more than JSU, then I'm going there. I don't really care what position I play as I'll play wherever I'm needed. I'd to play quarterback, but I'm capable of playing any position. Can't wait to hear what Johnson says on Friday."
