Illinois defensive end Rhashaun Epting is waiting on Minnesota after a great official visit

Illinois defensive end Rhashaun Epting is waiting on Minnesota after a great official visit to the Twin Cities this past weekend. Epting talks about what's next with GopherDigest.

"The visit went great!" Illinois defensive end Rhashaun Epting said to GopherDigest. " My favorite part of the visit was meeting all the guys and seeing what it's like to be a Gopher. They get a lot of love from the fans there and that's always fun to see. My host for the visit was Gaelin Elmore and I liked him. He was cool and made my trip fun. He just told me to work hard and play hard and I'll have a lot of fun up in the Twin Cities. I also love the campus and facilities there as the campus is in the city, so there's a lot to do, plus where I'd be living would be across the street from the football facilities, so that's nice. "

Talking with the Gopher coaches was another highlight for Epting.

"I talked a lot with DL coach Jeff Phelps, defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel and head coach Tracy Claeys," Epting explained to GopherDigest. "Coach Phelps said that we're going to try and get this worked out in terms of an offer, and to make sure to play like I have a chip on my shoulder. Coach Sawvel came to talk to me at dinner on Sunday and just told me he likes my speed and athleticism and thinks I'll be a good player. Coach Claeys told me he likes me and just wants to know how big I can get, but he says he's going to call me tonight or tomorrow about an offer. He wants me to go home and think about everything that happened on the visit and make sure Minnesota would be the right place for me."

If an offer comes, Epting is going to jump all over it.

"I feel like Minnesota is the perfect fit for me," Epting told GopherDigest. "If I get an offer, I'll commit. Just have to play the waiting game now."
