With spring football starting in less than a week for Minnesota, one of the guys who could have a breakout spring for Gophers is junior safety Duke McGhee. With senior safety Ace Rogers coming off of significant knee injury, McGhee will absolutely challenge for that starting safety spot alongside Damarius Travis.
Spring Spotlight: Duke McGhee
The Georgia native came on strong to end the season for Minnesota has he had back to back 12 tackle games against Illinois and Wisconsin and is one of the best special teams players on the roster for Minnesota. McGhee has the physical tools to be the starting safety, he just has to carry over the strong ending to 2015, into the 2016 spring and keep building from there.
