GopherDigest's Spring Spotlight: Jonathan Celestin

With less than a week away until the Gophers start spring ball, GopherDigest takes a look at some current players that could have breakout spring for Minnesota and we now spotlight junior linebacker Jonathan Celestin.

With the departure of outside linebacker De'Vondre Campbell to the NFL, Minnesota will need to replace his production from 2015, and the guy whose primed to step into his role is junior Jonathan Celestin. The Jonesboro, Georgia native started three games at linebacker for Minnesota last season, totaling 43 total tackles and was a key contributor on special teams, but GopherDigest expects Celestin to make the jump this spring to potentially the full-time starter.
Celestin is one of Minnesota's best players in space as he excels in one on one situations on the outside with the ball carrier, which is what makes him such a weapon in the flats and on special teams. Celestin will have competition this spring to fill Campbell's shoes, but he's GopherDigest's front runner to start at OLB for Minnesota in 2016.
