"It was really nice, I enjoyed the visit," Illinois defensive lineman Jacub Panasiuk said to GopherDigest. "We got to see and walk around the campus. I got to see the facilities and talk to a couple coaches. They took us around the campus and showed us where a lot of my classes would and I got a chance to talk to Antonio (Shenault) for a little while."
Panasiuk enjoyed taking in the campus and facilities.
"The campus was amazing. I loved how close everything was and how it was in the city," Panasiuk explained about the Gophers campus. "The facilities are nice, but brand new ones are getting built right now, so they took me through the old ones. The stadium was a little small, but still very nice. The locker room was amazing. It was huge and everyone has their own space to move around so it was also very nice."
The Lake Park standout also enjoyed talking with the Gopher coaches and players.
"I talked to defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel and coach John Schaekel," Panasiuk told GopherDigest. "I talked a lot to Sawvel about how they need defensive linemen. They have three to four seniors leaving this year and next year, they have two to three more lineman leaving again. I would like to redshirt my first year to get bigger and faster obviously, but if I had to play my freshman year I would. I also got to talk with my former teammate in Antonio Shenault as he was around for the visit. We just caught up on recruiting and he helped out with the visit. He was able to tell me more about things there since he lives it everyday. He loves it in Minnesota. He loves the coaches and the environment he's in."
Panasiuk maintains that he wants to take things slow in the recruiting process.
"Like I said, I liked the campus and everything, but I'm going to take things slowly. I don't want to go out and say I have a high interest in a school yet because I want to go out and see a lot more schools before deciding all that. Overall though, it was a great visit to Minnesota. I don't have any other visits scheduled at this time."
