2017 Gopher legacy Demetrius Douglas received an offer from Minnesota Saturday night

2017 Gopher legacy Demetrius Douglas received an offer from Minnesota Saturday night and spoke with GopherDigest to tell more about the offer.

"Coach Sherels is the Gopher coach that offered me," Gopher legacy recruit Demetrius Douglas said to GopherDigest. "He just said the coaching staff really enjoyed my film and what I had done at their previous camps. He was glad to be able to extend the offer my way. He mentioned how the coaching staff had gone back and forth for both positions (WR/DB) and they weren't sure exactly which side of the ball they preferred me at, so as of right now, the Gophers offer is as an athlete."

The Gopher legacy recruit was excited to receive an offer from his former home state.

"I'm very excited about each opportunity I've been given to play football at the next level, and this Minnesota offer adds to the excitement," Douglas explained. "I grew up a Minnesota fan and when I lived there, my family had season tickets for Gopher Football. When they found out I got the Minnesota offer, they were very happy and extremely excited for me. The Gopher offer means a lot seeing my hard work pay off! I'm very excited and blessed to have received this offer from the Gophers!!"

Douglas is going to take things slow with the recruiting process.

"As of right now, there is no list of schools, but I'm very excited to continue my recruitment process in order to find the best fit for me. As far as what position I want to play in college, I really enjoy playing offense, but I feel that defensive back may be a better fit. There are a few visits being planned, but I need to sit down with my parents to further discuss what the schedule will look like. I'm not sure of the exact date, but I do plan on visiting Minnesota some time this summer. I'm not sure when I want to make a decision at this point, but I plan on continuing to look into each school to see which is the best fit."
