"I've heard from Minnesota, South Dakota State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois and Iowa of late," Caledonia defensive end Ezekiel Ott said to GopherDigest. "Recruiting is starting to pick up a bit here, so I'm pretty excited!"
Ott will be going on some trips to colleges across the Midwest this spring.
"I just visited SDSU last weekend and the visit went great, I really enjoyed meeting all the coaches and getting to know them better," Ott explained. "North Dakota wanted some information and I'm planing on going to their junior day and maybe going to a spring practice. NDSU messaged me that they're interested and I'm going to an Iowa Hawkeyes spring practice because I'm not able to go to their junior day. Northern Illinois just messaged me Wednesday night and asked how recruiting has been going."
The in-state Gophers have been in touch lately with the Caledonia defensive end.
"Minnesota messaged me a week or so ago and talked about rehab for my knee and coming back strong. I haven't been invited to one of their spring practices yet, so I'm not sure if I'll attend, but I would love to see how they do it up there. A Gopher offer would be great. I've been a Minnesota fan for a long time and it would awesome to play in the Big Ten!"
Ott's focus right now though is fully recovering and getting back to 100%.
"I had surgery on my knee back in November, but the rehab has been going really well. I'm supposed to be close to 100% around the end of June towards July, but I'm not going to rush it. First thing is to have a great high school season with my brothers and to be able to play football on my knee for a long time! I don't know if I'll be camping anywhere this summer as it's too soon to tell. We will see how rehab goes. Currently, I'm ahead of schedule, but I would love to be able make it to a lot of camps just not sure if I will be able to."
