"I'm getting attention from colleges as both a football and basketball player," Iowa City West athlete Devontae Lane told GopherDigest. "Minnesota and Iowa state for football and Creighton, Northern Iowa and western Illinois for basketball. Same old schools from before that have been recruiting me. This is year, my junior year, was my first year of high school football, so it's nice to be getting some love in both football and basketball."
Lane has a brother that's currently on the Gopher football team right now.
"My brother, Ace Rogers, goes to Minnesota right now," Lane explained to GopherDigest. "I think they want to offer me from what I've heard. I haven't talked to the coaches there of late, but they've talked to my coaches at school and my brother there about me. Ace told me that's it's great place to be. The fans are amazing and the coaches and players all want what's best for you and what's going to benefit you in the future. I took an unofficial visit there for their game again Nebraska, and it was great! I had a lot of fun. A Minnesota offer would mean a lot. Shows some people are paying attention to my hard work."
The Iowa City West standout hasn't yet made a decision on what sport he wants to play in college.
"I haven't really thought about anything yet," Lane told GopherDigest about his potential sport in college. "It was a lot of fun last season for football and I had so many great memories! It felt good being out there! Basketball never ends for me, but after the West high season is over, I plan to start going to football workouts and get into the gym even more."
