"Coach Poore is the Minnesota coach that actually offered me," San Antonio (Texas) offensive lineman Derek Kerstetter said to GopherDigest. "We just talked and he asked me like where I'm from and some questions about me and told me about the University of Minnesota. He then told me that I have an offer from Minnesota. That's really exciting as they're an exciting school and program. Coach Poore said they wanted to offer as they really like the way I play and thinks that I would fit perfectly into their offensive line and what they're trying to do there."

The Texas offensive lineman knows a bit about the Golden Gophers from Minnesota.

"I know it's a great school and has great football," Kerstetter said about his Minnesota knowledge. "They compete every year in a really great conference. Look forward to learning a lot more about the school! I definitely want to visit in the future because Minnesota is a school I'm definitely interested in!"

While it's still very early in the 2017 recruiting process, the Gophers are sitting very well for Kerstetter.

"My interest in Minnesota now is very high," Kerstetter explained to GopherDigest. "I've always wanted to play in a great conference like the Big Ten and they would give me an opportunity to do so. I don't have any visits scheduled right now, but I'll probably take some in the summer time. That's also when I'll probably make a decision as I'll have a chance to go and check out some of these schools."
