"I had a chance to view the athletic facilities, see the equipment room, and the players lounge," Illinois quarterback Cam Thomas said to GopherDigest. "After the tour we talked briefly in the team room and went down to the field to watch practice. I thought the athletic facilities were very impressive and I can see the staff is looking to improve on what they already have. I thought the practice was really competitive since I was there for a situational focused practice and I could feel the intensity out there."
Thomas talked with an assortment of Gopher coaches following practice on Saturday.
"I spoke with director of recruiting in Billy Glasscock, my area recruiting coach in Jeff Phelps and head coach Tracy Claeys," Thomas explained to GopherDigest. "Glasscock said that he wanted to get me back out to a summer camp so I can get a campus tour and talk more with the coaches. Phelps basically the same thing and also that he would be up to my school in the spring. Claeys said he hasn't had a chance to watch film yet and that he uses this time to focus on his players on the roster. But after spring ball is over, he will begin the process of watching film. My parents thought it was very impressive as well at Minnesota. The facilities are a real plus and the coaching staff is very friendly and welcoming."
The Marian Catholic quarterback is still working hard for that first offer and has more visits to come.
"I'm not really sure what my interest is in Minnesota as it's still kind of early, but if they were to offer, it would be a relief because of now, I'm still hungry for my first offer. I'm trying to get bigger and work on my throwing mechanics this spring. I'll be visiting Indiana on the 9th here in a couple days."
