"I was able to go into the locker room with the team pre-game and see them warm-up on the field," Benilde-St. Margaret offensive lineman Eric Wilson said to GopherDigest about the start of his Minnesota visit on Saturday. "Afterwards, my dad and I had a chance to talk with some of the coaches about the game and really what they are trying to do with the offense. Seeing the locker room and stadium again was nice and they're world-class. It's always fun to visit there."
Wilson was happy to talk with the Minnesota coaches once again after the game.
"I talked a lot with coach Johnson, Glasscock, Grimes, and Miller," Wilson told GopherDigest. "All of them talked with me about getting back on campus maybe during a school day to see everything. Offensive coordinator Jay Johnson just said that he wants me to come out and spend some time with the offensive linemen themselves this spring. Coach Miller and Grimes reiterated what coach Johnson said, adding that they need to keep the "fence" around the state for the offensive linemen."
Minnesota's new commitment for the 2017 class also had some words for Wilson.
"I talked some with Blaise Andries and he seemed really excited. It was fun to talk with him and catch up about how his recruiting process was going too. He was just talking to me about how Eric Abojei and I should be next to commit to Minnesota. It definitely helped talking to a Gopher commit about what he sees in the program. Knowing how good Blaise is, it's only getting better for Minnesota."
The Gophers are going to try and get the St. Louis Park offensive lineman back on campus here soon.
"Minnesota was talking with me about coming back soon to do an overnight visit," Wilson said. "We are definitely going to figure out a day that works in the coming months, and I'm not sure if it will be this or the next month for that. Right now, Minnesota is definitely in a group at the top of my list as they're my hometown team and they have a great history, plus great coaches. The only visit I have planned right now, is for Harvard on the 23rd of April."
