"The Minnesota coach that I talked with about an offer was Brian Anderson," Georgia defensive back Avery Showell said to GopherDigest. "I hadn't had a conversation with him before the offer, but he came to the spring game and afterwards, he let my coach know that I had an offer from Minnesota. He also came in earlier in the morning to watch us workout, but we didn't have a conversation. I've messaged with him some on Twitter and he said that he really liked that way I play and so he wanted to offer. I haven't really heard much about the football side of the University of Minnesota, so I'd like to know more about them though. All I know about them right now is that it's far from home. I'm grateful for the offer as it's something new and I don't see a lot of athletes having the same opportunities that I have. It's definitely an offer that I want to learn more about as they're in the Big Ten. I'll have to find a good time to fly up there to check them out."
Showell has three other schools that are standing out to him right now.
"Of the schools that have offered me, probably West Virginia stands out the most," Showell explained to GopherDigest. "I also do like Wake Forest and Arizona too. West Virginia shows a lot of love and the coach recruiting me is building a great relationship. Wake Forest is a dream school of mine and I'm excited for them to be recruiting me. I've always had interest in Wake since I started high school as it's a great school and Kevin Johnson just got drafted by the Texans from there. Arizona is just a great school I have interest in."
The Georgia defensive back is starting to line up visits for the summer.
"My first visit will probably be Wake Forest and that's on June 3rd," Showell told GopherDigest. "I'm still working on other visits too. Hopefully I'll get invited to some big-time camps and get some more exposure, but I'll also be going to some other smaller college camps too. Working on firm dates for those. I'm hoping to make a decision in August or before the season starts, but my family and I don't want to rush anything."
