"Minnesota coach Brian Anderson is the Gopher coach that offered me," Piedmont (S.C.) Woodmont defensive end Davonne Bowen said to GopherDigest. "He was just saying that Minnesota loves my ability to rush the pass and they love my athleticism for a defensive end. Those two things really stood out to them and after Anderson saw me, he knew that they had to offer. I know they are in the Big-Ten conference, they have (according to ESPN) 18 players in the NFL, they've had 9 All-Americans since 2000, and they run a 4-3 defensive scheme."
Bowen is very thankful for his latest Big Ten offer.
"This Minnesota offer is truly a blessing," Bowen explained to Scout.com. "It goes to show that hard work pays off. I have no idea how a kid from South Carolina gets a Minnesota offer, but hey, I ain't complaining. It's a Big Ten school and you can't go wrong with that. My interest in Minnesota now is pretty good and if everything goes to plan, I do plan on visiting them sometime this summer. The plan is to get out and see some of the colleges who have offered, but I haven't seen yet and Minnesota is included in that list. Other schools I'll try and visit are Maryland, Wake Forest, Old Dominion and a couple of others. There will definitely be more added as time goes on and as summer comes on."
The South Carolina defensive end is just going to see where his recruiting takes him before thinking about a decision.
"I'm not exactly sure when I'll make a decision just yet," Bowen told GopherDigest. I'm just going to go with where God and my heart takes me."
