"Coach Miller offered me as a defensive lineman," 2017 Peoria (Ill.) lineman Kendrick Green said to GopherDigest.com. "They want me as a defensive tackle as they really liked my testing numbers and liked how I took coaching at the Lake Park camp they were at and how I applied it immediately to the reps I was taking. I worked as a defensive lineman all day at the camp and thought I did pretty well, so it was nice to get offers from Minnesota and Syracuse immediately after."
The Gophers being Green's first Big Ten offer means a lot to the Illinois' lineman.
"It's huge just for the fact that someone on that level finally realized I can play on that level. Absolutely huge," Green explained to Scout.com. "My parents were really excited when I told them about the offer and they want to visit. What has me so interested in Minnesota is that they offered me as a defensive lineman, and that's kind of what I want to do in college. Plus they play in my favorite conference, which is the Big Ten. I don't really have a big preference between offensive and defensive line, and I want to play the position that I'll get the chance to play the earliest at."
The Illinois lineman has Minnesota is his top group.
"Minnesota and Syracuse are the teams standing out to me right now," Green told GopherDigest. "I'm going to try and visit Minnesota in late July / early August, and the same goes for Syracuse, and maybe Mizzou. I'll be at the Michigan State camp today and then I leave on Saturday for about a month to head to China to play for USA Football, and I'll be back on July 11th, so from there it will all be about my high school team, and my decision. I'll probably make a decision by the middle of the season, as by then, I'll have visited everywhere I want to and want to get a spot."
