"I want people to know that the five schools listed above the ones that I have the best relationships with and are schools I know I can trust," Janesville (Wis.) defensive tackle Juan Harris said to GopherDigest. "I have very good relationships with coach Phelps from Minnesota, coach Phair from Illinois, coach Hagan from Indiana and coach Spencer from Penn State. Those are guys that have been recruiting me and know my situation."
Harris also wants to clear the air about his Iowa commitment and de-commitments.
"I think it's no secret that I've had my up's and down's with Iowa," Harris explained to Scout.com. "I ultimately decommitted because I wanted to visit other schools, and I didn't think it was fair to Iowa for me to be committed to them and still look around. The way I look at it, it's like a marriage. Would you want your husband or wife looking around at other people while you're married to them? No, you wouldn't. So I appreciate everything that Iowa has done for me and what not, but it's time for me to move on from the Hawkeyes and look at other schools."
"The Gophers and Indiana are two of those schools that are standing out to me right now," Harris told GopherDigest. "I really enjoy my relationship with coach Phelps as he completely understands the situation I'm going through at home. He knows all about it and he's a guy I really respect. I've moved back to Janesville with my mom and that's where I'll be playing my senior season. I'm planning on visiting Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana sometime this summer yet with my coach, but I don't have any firm dates set on those. I say that these schools are standing out though, and they are from the conversations I've had with them, but until I visit the school, I truly won't know what I think. I want to see what the people are like in person, if I can see myself playing there and if I think it's the right fit for me. I'm looking forward to the visits though as each one of those five schools have told me since I decommitted from Iowa that they need me."
Harris knows that his next commitment is going to be his last.
"Truthfully, I'm tired of the entire recruiting process. I'm tired of the fans on social media, tired of all the phone calls and just the recruiting and I'm ready for this to be done and over with. When I do commit again, it's going to be the last one. I've been through the process long enough and I'm ready to find a new home and stick to them. Then I can stop with the social media, texts and phone calls and just focus on my season and my family. As far as when that commitment may be, we'll see how the visits go. If I find a school that fits me here in the coming weeks and months, I'll pull the trigger then. I don't have a set time frame I want to do done, but the visits coming up are going to be crucial."
