"I just can't stop smiling right now man, I'm so happy to be a Gopher," Georgia WR Javan Hawes said to Gopher Illustrated. "I had a great couple of days enjoying the things Minnesota has to offer like the Mall of America and just their campus there is amazing. Minnesota is a place where I could see myself playing at even if I wasn't playing football. That's how much I liked it."

Hawes really hit it off with a few of the Gopher coaches as well.

"I talked a lot with coach Sawvel and Anderson," Hawes explained to Gopher Illustrated. "Coach Sawvel was just telling me all about the University and explaining how much they really want to get me up on campus and start working with me already. Anderson was with me a lot too and he was just cracking jokes. I really enjoy my bond with those two coaches. They were really interested in what I liked and what I wanted to do, and not just in the program. We talked about academics. It wasn’t all football, and that meant a lot to me. It means they have my best interest in mind and I really respect that."

"My mom is sitting here in the car with me right now, and she's still smiling from the visit," Hawes told GopherIllustrated. "Even my little brother loved the visit. We were not expecting to love it so much here, but my parents are 100% behind this decision with me. We couldn't agree more that Minnesota is the perfect place for me. Also, the coaches said I’m going to be a vertical threat and they need someone that can run downfield and make plays. They love my route running, they said it’s very clean and they said they need guys like me to make plays. Sawvel also told me I could play defensive back for him if I play it as a senior, and that I could pick which side of the ball I'd want to play then. I don't really care what position I play."

Hawes still will take some visits, but he wants to just enjoy the recruiting experience.

"I don't have any visits set in stone right now, but I'll probably take some official visits. I don't anticipate anything coming close to what Minnesota has to offer, but this is a once in a lifetime experience. I'm very happy to be a Golden Gopher tonight and Go Gophers!"
