Coach Speak: Gophers DL commit Joshua Croslen

Gopher Illustrated talks with Cibolo (Texas) Steele head coach Scott Leinhoff about new Minnesota DT commit Joshua Croslen and what Gopher fans can expect from Croslen.

Q: What can you tell me about Joshua as a player and as a person off the field?

SL: Josh is as fine a young man as we have ever had in our program.  His character, integrity, work ethic,  and leadership by example is off the charts.  As a player, you are getting an athletic DT that has the ability and willingness to run sideline to sideline on every play.  His explosiveness, use of hands, and intelligence shines on film.

Q: How involved were you in the recruiting process with him and what'd you think of the Gopher coaches?

SL: As far as his recruiting process, I was involved a bit with Coach Poore, as an area recruiter.  He has recruited our area for years and have always enjoyed his visits and picking his brain.  As for guiding Josh, I had very little involvement.  Guys like him need very little guidance.  He is a smart young man, with an outstanding family.  I knew they would make a great decision.

Q: What's his role on the team heading into his senior season and what do you think Gophers fans can expect to see out of Joshua these next four-five years as an defensive lineman?

SL: Heading into the season, he is the anchor of what should be a very talented defense.   As coaches, a player like Josh means so much to our program.  His effort, his commitment to his teammates, his commitment to the classroom. He is the standard for doing things the right way. Minnesota is getting a an explosive and disruptive DT that is going to give everything he has for his teammates, coaches, and Gopher fans.
