2017 Hopkins (Minn.) defensive end Boye Mafe has a great visit to the University of Minnesota

2017 Hopkins (Minn.) defensive end Boye Mafe had a great visit to the University of Minnesota on Thursday.

"I had a chance to see the campus, dorms and visit their facilities again," Hopkins defensive end Boye Mafe said to GI. "Their campus is very spaced out and it covers a lot of ground and that's something that's new to me, as I was expecting a college campus to feel smaller in a sense, but it's a pretty campus. The buildings are all renovated and they're pretty nice on the inside."

"Coach Phelps and I talked about what I should expect if I play at Minnesota, and what I could expect playing for him," Mafe explained. "We went over some schemes and some stuff he feels like if I can get down, that it could help my game and perform at the level he thinks I could perform at. Claeys spoke with my family about my game and what the future of the Gophers is looking to be like. My parents liked the campus there, and I liked their campus as well. I also liked the stuff that they offered their players."

A Minnesota offer could be close for the in-state defensive end.

"A Gopher offer would be a lot to me, and they're supposed to let me know soon about if I'll be getting one. We'll see what happens."
