PF Hasahn French spoke with GI today about upcoming fall visits

Six-foot-7, 225 pound power forward Hasahn French is now setting visits. GI caught up with French today to hear the latest.

Six-foot-7, 225 pound power forward Hasahn French brought his list down earlier in the month and is now looking at visits.  GI caught up with French today to hear the latest.

“I have an official visit set up with Marquette on the 9th of September,” Hasahn said.  “After that I plan to visit Minnesota, Saint Louis, and UNLV.  My Minnesota visit will likely be some time in October.”

Earlier this month French visited UMASS, VCU, and Providence.  All of these schools were among the 13 he paired his list down to after the July period finished up.

“All of the schools that I’ve listed me are all recruiting me pretty hard.  It’s all about the same right now.  I’m looking for a school where I’m going to start, a school that feels like home, and a school where I have a good relationship with the coach.”

Minnesota offered French in June of 2015 and has routinely been in contact with the active four man.  Coach Richard Pitino and assistant Kimani Young watched French and the PSA Cardinals several times at the Peach Jam and at the KC Hardwood Classic.

“I’m pretty cool with the Minnesota coaches,” French stated.  “Coach Pitino, Coach Kimani, I’m really cool with them.  They are moving their program forward and they have been recruiting me for a very long time and they continue to come after me pretty hard.”

French goes to school at Commonwealth Academy in Massachusetts and is from Middletown, New York.  Minnesota assistant Kimani Young is of course from New York and his early recognition of French led to the early offer.

“I’m really cool with Kimani being from New York and the New York area,” French stated.  “He is a pretty cool guy.  I’ve been talking to him for a while now as he’s been recruiting to Minnesota for awhile.  I like Coach Young, he’s really cool.  You can talk to him about anything, basketball or things besides basketball.”

PSA was one of the elite teams in the EYBL this year and French gave the team 6.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and a steal a game playing next to Mohamed Bamba in the frontcourt.
