Week 8 Big Ten East Power Ratings

While Michigan was home resting, Ohio State was tested on their road trip to Madison, needing overtime to knock off Wisconsin.

Big Ten East Power Ratings:  Week 8

No. 1 Ohio State

DTCR:  60% (No Change)

Week 8:  Ohio State was given a big test on Saturday night in Madison and the Buckeyes did just enough to walk away with an overtime win.  There will be no rest for Urban Meyer and his new cast of college football stars as they travel to Happy Valley this week to battle Penn State in another prime time night game.  Expect Ohio State to roll.

No. 2 Michigan

DTCR:  40% (No Change)

Week 8:  I kinda doubt Michigan really needed a bye last week as they were fresh off a 78-0 drubbing of Rutgers.  Michigan returns from their off week with Illinois in town.  One would argue this could equate to three straight bye weeks for Big Blue.  Michigan's next meaningful game is Week 9 at East Lansing.

No. 3 Penn State

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 8:  Penn State is riding high after starting conference play getting embarrassed by Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Since then Penn State has compiled a two game winning streak by outlasting Minnesota in overtime and blowing out Maryland.  The three-game home stand ends this weekend as Ohio State is in town.  The bad news is the win streak ends.  The good news is Purdue is up next.

No. 4 Indiana

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 8:  I put Nebraska on upset alert back in August and Indiana almost made it happen.  The Hoosiers came to play on Saturday and took the No. 10 ranked Huskers down to the wire before a last minute interception ended the comeback bid.  This week Indiana travels to Evanston to take on a Northwestern team that might have found their midseason stride.

No. 5 Michigan State

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 8:  I had a feeling Sparty would be down in 2016 as they needed to break-in or find a new quarterback.  I never imagined it would get quite this bad.  Mark Dantonio rebuilt the Spartans with solid to spectacular defenses, so it has to be alarming to see an opposing team waltz into Spartan Stadium and hang 54 points on the Green and White.  The Spartans should rebound this week as they trip to College Park to take on the turtles.

No. 6 Maryland

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 8:  The Terps looked absolutely lost on Saturday without their fifth-year senior quarterback Perry Hills against Minnesota.  The Gophers simply dominated Maryland in every aspect in route to a 31-10 road victory.  Nothing went right for Maryland and the Terps will have to rebound to prove their 4-0 start was nothing more than the product of an extremely soft schedule.

No. 7 Rutgers

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 8:  You know you have issues when a team (Illinois) that lost to Purdue at home comes into your place and dominates you.  Rutgers is very bad.  The Scarlett Knights have decided to bench quarterback Chris Laviano and instead turn to Giovanni Rescigno this week as they travel to Minnesota.
