Week 10 Big Ten East Power Ratings

Michigan cleared one hurdle with a road victory over instate rival Michigan State. Ohio State stayed in contention with a hard fought home win over Northwestern.

Big Ten East Power Ratings:  Week 10

No. 1 Michigan

DTCR:  75% (+15%)

Week 10:  The Wolverines continue to look better and better each week and my initial projection of having them enter the college football playoff at 13-0 looks better each week.  I firmly believe Michigan has the defense to waltz into Iowa City and Columbus and come out victors.  Expect Michigan to earn the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

No. 2 Ohio State

DTCR:  25% (-15%)

Week 10:  Urban Meyer obviously rebuild his 2016 team with loads and loads of talent, but many of them are taking their first tour of the Big Ten and it may be starting to show.  Are the Buckeyes legs starting to feel a tad bit heavy?  Ohio State escape with a tough home victory over a very pesky and very improved Northwestern team on Saturday.  In the end I just think Michigan's defense will be way too much for Ohio State in the finale.  I am also putting Ohio State on upset alert this weekend.

No. 3 Penn State

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 10:  Penn State allowed Purdue to keep things interesting this past week as the two programs were tied 17-17 at the break.  However, Penn State's strategy in the second half was to put up 45 points and see if that helped.  It did and Penn State rolled to improve their record to 6-2, 4-1.  Penn State could easily win out as their final four games are Iowa, at Indiana, at Rutgers and Michigan State.

No. 4 Indiana

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 10:  Indiana pretty much locked themselves into my 4-spot for the remainder of the season with their 42-36 home victory over Maryland on Saturday.  The Hoosiers needed the victory in their efforts to become bowl eligible as it was their fourth victory (4-4, 2-3) of the season.  With Rutgers and Purdue still on IU's remaining schedule the Hoosiers should finish 6-6.

No. 5 Maryland

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 10:  Despite losing the battle with Indiana for the 4-spotin the Big Ten East the Terps still are sitting at 5-3, 2-3 with four games left.  However, their next three contests involve Michigan, Ohio State and Nebraska (Welcome to the Big Ten).  So it will all come down to a season finale with very beatable Rutgers if Maryland wants to go bowling.

No. 6 Michigan State

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 10:  The Spartans showed up and made things interesting with Michigan on Saturday in East Lansing.  In the end Big Blue was just too much for Sparty on both sides of the ball.  What Michigan State needs to worry about it if they can keep up with Michigan in the future.  Could be a case of two programs going in very different directions.

No. 7 Rutgers

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 10:  Rutgers was off last weekend and they are now prepared to find one win over the last four weekends to avoid going 0-9 in conference play.  It might be too much to ask for, however they could potentially sneak out a win over any one of the four teams.  Rutgers gets IU at home, travel to Michigan State, then back in New Jersey for Penn State before their finale with Maryland in College Park.
