Week 12 Big Ten West Power Ratings

Wisconsin looks to have a clear path to the Big Ten Championship Game and even an outside shot at an invitation to the College Football Playoff.

Big Ten West Power Ratings:  Week 11

No. 1 Wisconsin

DTCR:  99% (+9%)

Week 12: The Badgers have to love the position they are in with a 5-2 conference record (tied with Nebraska) and remaining games with Purdue and a home finale with rival Minnesota.  If Wisconsin wins out they play in Indianapolis as they hold the tiebreaker over Nebraska should the Huskers also win out and finish at 7-2 as well.

No. 2 Nebraska

DTCR:  1% (-4%)

Week 12:  The Huskers were able to escape with a hard fought home win over Minnesota on Saturday night in Lincoln to extend their slim chances of winning the West.  Nebraska needs to beat Maryland and Iowa and then hope for a Wisconsin slip up.

No. 3 Iowa

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 12:  Iowa is usually solid and a tough out at home but I don't think anyone saw the upset over Michigan on the horizon.  The Hawkeyes had already lost home games to NDSU, Northwestern and Wisconsin earlier in the season and many expect Michigan to have little trouble with Iowa. The Hawks are now 6-4 and a great chance to finish a disappointed season at 8-4 if they can beat Illinois on the road and Nebraska in their home finale.

No. 4 Northwestern

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 12:  Northwestern had my vote for the best 4-5 team in the country last week and they now have my vote for the best 5-5 team in the country.  The Wildcats are playing solid and accountable football on both sides of the ball. Northwester is looking to hit seven wins and to do so they will have to travel to Minneapolis this weekend to knock off the Gophers and then hold serve in their final home game of the year against Illinois.

No. 5 Minnesota

DTCR:  0% (-5%)

Week 12:  Yes, the Gophers are 7-3 but it is just a team that is hard to get excited about due to having zero quality wins or wins that get the fan base excited.  Minnesota could send their fans off into an enjoyable holiday (bowl) season with a home win over Northwestern and then a huge win in Madison that would knock Bucky out of the Big Ten Championship Game and out of any backdoor playoff talk.

No. 6 Illinois

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 12:  The Illini were completely outclass last weekend in Madison, losing to the Badgers 48-3.  Illinois gets Iowa at home this weekend and with as inconsistent as Iowa has been in 2016 the Illini could find themselves in a ball game.

No. 7 Purdue

DTCR:  0% (No Change)

Week 12:  Purdue gave Northwestern a battle in the first half, only trailing the Cats 14-10 at the break.  However, the second half continued to be massive failure for the Boilers as they were outscored 31-3 in route to a 45-17 loss.  Things don't get any easier for Purdue this weekend as Wisconsin comes to town.
