"On Friday, we went to the basketball game and hung out with some of the players," Gophers specialist commit Grant Ryerse said to GopherIllustrated. "On Saturday, we met with the academic advisers, went to meetings, watched practice, ate at Fogo de Chao, and then hung out the rest of the night. Sunday, we ate breakfast at coach Claeys' house and then we headed out, so it was a really great weekend overall."
"My host for the visit was specialist Logan McElfresh and I've known him for a while now through different kicking camps," Ryerse explained to GI. "We had a great time and he gave me some valuable information about the U. His message to me was to enjoy the time in high school now, and to kind of prepare physically for the workouts that we have starting up in the summer. Also, to just be patient in practice if things aren't going my way. I talked a lot with coach Hippe and O'Brien and they were telling me to also just enjoy the rest of my senior year, and to come into camp next year ready to compete with the other guys on the team. I didn't really have a whole lot of contact with coach Claeys, but he was happy that we helped out recruiting some of the other guys who weren't committed, but on their official visits as well."
Ryerse could be playing a couple of different positions next fall.
"I've been told that early on in my career, they want me to focus on kickoff and punting, so I'm really excited for that. I feel really good about Minnesota and I'm really excited to get things started once I get there. I can't wait to be around football almost all the time."
