New Gophers head coach PJ Fleck gets his quarterback in Kentucky's Tanner Morgan

New Gophers head coach PJ Fleck gets his quarterback in Kentucky's Tanner Morgan, who flips from Western Michigan to Minnesota. Morgan goes in-depth with GopherIllustrated.

"I just committed to be a Golden Gopher!," Kentucky quarterback Tanner Morgan said to GopherIllustrated. "I had talked to coach Fleck earlier in the morning about following him to Minnesota, but I had to talk about things with my family, but then I called coach Gerrit to inform him that I was coming to Minnesota!"

"What made me what to commit to Minnesota without seeing it, is knowing coach Fleck. I know great things will happen there because of coach Fleck. I talked to a couple people that had been on campus, and in Minneapolis and they loved it and I trust those people. My cousin is a director for Fox Sports and has done numerous games there for football and basketball, and he said it was beautiful. It's also hard not to follow coach Fleck wherever he goes. Coach Fleck has said he loves my ability to play as a quarterback, but he loves the connection we have and how I'm a leader and great communicator! He loves my leadership on the field, how I have a strong arm and can make all the throws, and how I play the game. Just how I put everything together with my mechanics."

Morgan will be on campus later this month and has a message for Gophers fans.

"I want Minnesota fans to get ready for elite things that you thought would never be possible. Get ready for coach Fleck and what is to come! I can't wait to be a part of the Minnesota football program under his guidance. And of course, Row the Boat and Ski-U-Mah"
