Gophers wide receiver signee Chris Bell could be the next Mohamed Sanu for the Gophers

Kankakee (Ill.) Bishop McNamara wide receiver and new Gopher signee Chris Bell is the latest Gopher to sign in the 2017 class and he went in-depth with to share more about his reasons to sign with Minnesota. What is your current height and weight? What weight would the Gopher staff like you to report at this summer?

CB: "I'm 5'11" and 189 lbs, and the Gophers want me to top out somewhere around 200 lbs. What are your individual and team goals you hope to accomplish during your college career?

CB: As an individual, I want me to come in as a true freshman and help the offense, and for the team, I want to win the Big Ten championship and National Championship. What are you looking to work on the most this spring to prepare yourself for Big Ten football?

CB: Weight lifting. I need to get big and strong for the Big Ten, as there is nothing like Big Ten football. If I want to be a stud freshman, I need to have the right body, mentally and physically. What future moment are you looking forward to the most as a Gopher?

CB: Winning a National Championship and bringing happiness to the Twin Cities. What was the main reason you chose to attend the University of Minnesota?

CB: I picked Minnesota for the culture. Coach Fleck brought me with, but I loved the University academic wise as they're the highest ranked for me. They had a better education system, and seriously, why not Gopher Football? What team do you want to beat the most as a Gopher and why?

CB: I want to destroy every team who didn't show interest in me, and didn't give me a chance at their University. So I'll be coming hard every game. Is there any unfinished academic business or are you all set to enroll at Minnesota?

CB: I'm all set. I struggled in ninth and tenth grade badly. Starting junior year, I grinded so hard for my GPA, and now I'm eligible for division one football. If you don't make it to the NFL, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

CB: I'm hoping for the NFL, but if not, I see myself owning a sports business, or a clothing and shoe store. What is it about Coach Fleck and the coaching staff that makes you want to play for them?

CB: Man, his energy gets you going. He'll be the type to have everyone awake and live at 4:30 AM. I love his energy, his positivity and his mindset. He's the best coach on the planet. What is something you learned about University of Minnesota that surprised you during the recruiting process?

CB: The love. The love at Minnesota in unreal. I love Gopher fans like crazy and I love tweeting about them because they just get me going and excited for next year. The U of M is also the one division one football school in the state, so everyone loves us. What position do you expect to play at Minnesota? What other position did the Gopher staff mention as a possibility?

CB: Just wide receiver. I played some defensive back for my high school, but I have to be a game changer on offense. We already have game changers on defense. What have the coaches told you regarding how they plan to utilize your strengths as a player?

CB: Coach Fleck keeps relating me to Mohamed Sanu, which is positive to me. I'm a possession guy when I need it, but I have speed across the middle and know how to control my body. I like the Sanu comparison, but I'm Chris Bell coming with something better. Have you had any communication with other Minnesota recruits and if so what?

CB: I have, and we are really ready to put in the work. I can't wait to put on Maroon and Gold and win for the city of Minneapolis. It's eLITe. What player do you model your game after and why?

CB: I model my game after myself, but I've been told Mohamed Sanu once again, some Julio Jones and some Stefon Diggs. Honestly though, I model my game after myself and I want to be better than I was yesterday.
