Eden Prairie defensive back Tommy Fuller can't wait to put on the "M" for the first time this fall

Eden Prairie defensive back and new Gopher signee Tommy Fuller is the latest Gopher to sign in the 2017 class and he went in-depth with GopherIllustrated.com to share more about his reasons to sign with Minnesota.

GopherIllustrated.com: What is your current height and weight? What weight would the Gopher staff like you to report at this summer?

Tommy Fuller: My current height is 5’10” and I am weighing 190. I have not yet discussed what the coaches would like me at weight wise for the summer.

GopherIllustrated.com: What are your individual and team goals you hope to accomplish during your college career?

TF: For a team goal: Ultimately to win a Big Ten Championship, but to also grow as men in the community. Individual Goal: I think the ultimate goal every PWO has in mind is to earn a scholarship through hard work and perseverance.

GopherIllustrated.com: What are you looking to work on the most this spring to prepare yourself for Big Ten football?

TF:  Speed. I have always been fast, but speed kills in today’s game, and I think that is very important to keep working on things like that to take your game even higher.

GopherIllustrated.com: What future moment are you looking forward to the most as a Gopher?

TF:  Putting on the “M” for the first time, I think that has a lot of meaning to anyone playing on the team they watched growing up. And also playing the game I love for another four years.

GopherIllustrated.com: What was the main reason you chose to attend the University of Minnesota?

TF: 2 Reasons. P.J. Fleck and the University of Minnesota has always been where I have wanted to go because of its amazing academics, athletics, and campus.

GopherIllustrated.com: What team do you want to beat the most as a Gopher and why?

TF: Wisconsin. There’s nothing like bringing the Axe back home.

GopherIllustrated.com: Is there any unfinished academic business or are you all set to enroll at Minnesota?

TF: I’m all set academically. I was accepted in November.

GopherIllustrated.com: If you don't make it to the NFL, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

TF: I see myself doing something in the spectrum of a Kinesiologist as I am in the CEHD program.

GopherIllustrated.com: What is it about Coach Fleck and the coaching staff that makes you want to play for them?

TF: The energy that they bring to everything. I love that.

GopherIllustrated.com: What position do you expect to play at Minnesota? What other position did the Gopher staff mention as a possibility?

TF: I can see myself being utilized as a Safety. I also played Slot and Long snapped in high school, so anywhere the coaches need me to play I will.

GopherIllustrated.com: Have you had any communication with other Minnesota recruits and if so what?

TF: Yes. With three others coming from EP along with me we have talked a lot about this. I have also talked to Cashman and Coughlin a lot through this process.

GopherIllustrated.com: What player do you model your game after and why?

TF: Antione Winfield Sr. in the way I tackle low and my ability to make tackles in the open field.
