"I had a chance to get a full facility tour at Minnesota, talk with the coaches, sit down with my position coach, sit down with coach Fleck, got to try on jerseys and different things like that on my visit on Sunday," Indiana defensive back D.J. Johnson said to GopherIllustrated. "Minnesota's got a really nice campus and really nice facilities. They are getting their facilities re-done and upgraded right now, so I was able to get a virtual tour of that, and it's looking really good. Really looking forward to seeing the final outcome. I enjoyed my time at Minnesota on Sunday and I'm looking forward to come back soon."
"I had a chance to talk with coach Linguist, Smith and Fleck a lot while I was there," Johnson explained to GI. "Coach Mo just talked a lot about how he likes my size and length, and then the rest of our conversation was about just getting to know each other better. Coach Smith and I talked about pretty much the same things. We talked about the offer, and where I was visiting next and then just getting to know each other better. Finally with coach Fleck, he offered me the scholarship and told me he loved how I played and how aggressive I was on film. It means a lot to have a Minnesota offer as that's a Big Ten offer. I'm really excited to have received a scholarship from the Gophers!"
More visits are now on the docket for Johnson.
"I'll be taking a visit to Indiana this weekend, and then Iowa the week after that. I'm not really sure where Minnesota is on my list now, and I haven't really thought about putting any schools over any others yet. I still have a lot of visits to go on yet, but I will say Minnesota really did impress me while I was there."
