Brendan Adams excited about Gopher offer

Six-foot-3, 180 pound junior point guard Brendan Adams out of Baltimore is one of the latest players to receive a Gopher offer.

Brendan Adams and Calvert Hall High School is 12-18 on the season which is less than Adams was hoping for this winter.

“I think the season has been far less that what we expected and we have one more playoffs left,” Adams said.

“This season we've had our ups and downs as a team dealing with a lot of injuries and other issues.”

Adams recently scored 28 points in a win over John Carroll High School.  At that game was Minnesota assistant Kimani Young who liked what he saw leading to a scholarship offer from Minnesota.

“I was thrilled,” Adams said.  “It's a very big offer and it was unexpected.  I know it's a very good program that Coach Richard Pitino has on the rise.”

Young has spoke with Adams through the phone several times.

“I talked with Coach Kimani Young,” Adams said.  “He seemed like a real good dude and I appreciated how excited he was in me.”

Adams has offers from Minnesota, Kansas State, George Washington, Columbia, Siena, St. Bonaventure, St. Josephs, and Towson plus he’s hearing from several other programs.

“The most I’m hearing from is probably Stanford, Dayton, St. Joes, Columbia, Rice, and Kansas State,” said Adams.

Adams has the two high major offers from Minnesota and Kansas State.  What has led to Adams taking the next step moving from a mid major prospect to a high major prospect?

“I think for a long time I was just a scorer but recently I've stepped up on defense and also rebounding on both ends,” Adams said.
