Adams has big goals for Team Melo

Baltimore 2018 point guard Brendan Adams offered by Minnesota over the winter after he dominated another top area guard over the winter. The Gophers are one of a few schools that got in on Adams early.

Brendan Adams and Calvert Hall High finished with a 14-19 record playing a tough schedule with a very young team.  Considering recent history it was a down year for the program but a year that was used to build for the future.

Brendan averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Cardinals. He’s a 6-foot-3/6-foot-4 guard with offers from Stanford, Columbia, St. Joseph’s, Minnesota, George Washington, Siena, Kansas State, and others.

“I’m hearing the most from Cincinnati, Stanford, St. Joes, Minnesota, and Wyoming,” Adams told GI.

Adams has plans for a big spring and summer in both team results on the Nike circuit and individual performance.

“I’m playing with Team Melo,” Brendan said.  “My goals this season are win to the Peach Jam, and play well enough to continue to boost and promote my name.”

Adams certainly did that over the winter.  As we said, his team was young but showed promise for the future.  Calvert Hall matured as the year progressed.

“We definitely played our best basketball in that last month and showed what we could've been all season,” Adams explained.

“I'm most proud of my defensive improvements and I was able to improve on that side of the ball.”

The Gophers have enjoyed what they’ve seen on both ends of the court as well.  They offered him over the winter and not much has changed since that point.  The Gophers are still in contact and he is still interested.

“It's a very good program that Coach Richard Pitino has on the rise,” Adams said. “Coach Kimani Young is a real good dude and is excited about me.  He loved the way I took charge of the game and believes I have the potential to be really good in the future.”

Prep Hoops Washington DC writer Adam Ayalew followed Adams close all year.  Here are a few inserts about what Adam saw from Adams:

Brendan was one of the most dynamic scorers at this event, and he did it from all 3 levels. Efficient off the dribble. Finished effectively through contact. Gave good effort on defense” – Adam Ayalew

“Adams showcased improving athletic ability throughout camp. He’s a 3 level scorer. Great off the bounce, and an explosive finisher. Needs to continue to improve defensively, and become more disciplined on that end. – Adam
