"My mom, dad and sister are coming with me to Minnesota and we're leaving around 3 AM on Friday morning to drive over," Michigan wide receiver Erik Gibson said to GopherIllustrated. "We're staying all of Friday once we get there, and then we'll be there all day Saturday before we'll probably head home on Saturday night. Since the Nike camp last weekend, Minnesota has offered me, and Iowa, Iowa State, Bowling Green and Western Michigan have all been in contact with me, so it's picked up."
"I've been talking a lot with my recruiting area coach in coach Burns, my position coach in coach Simon and head coach P.J. Fleck," Gibson explained. "Coach Burns has just been talking about the upcoming visit and we've just been having regular conversations and the same thing goes for coach Simon. Coach Fleck has also been talking about the visit and things about the spring game as well. I think tomorrow when we get there, we're probably going to get dinner with coach Fleck and Simon I believe. For Minnesota to be my first big offer, it meant a lot. The first always is different than the others that follow. I've been talking with coach Fleck and his staff since they were at Western, and I guess they felt this past week as the best time to offer. I'm really looking forward to seeing the campus and spending time with the Gopher coaches."\
Minnesota could be adding to their top 15 2018 recruiting class by the end of the visit.
"My interest level in very high in Minnesota," Gibson told Scout.com. "I like the staff and I think their great people. There's a chance I could commit, but I just want to pick the right place with the right people, so we'll see how the visit goes as I don't have any further visits planned after that."
