"When I got into Minnesota last night, I had a great dinner with head coach P.J. Fleck and wide receiver coach Matt Simon," Michigan wide receiver Erik Gibson said to GopherIllustrated. "Today, I got to see Minnesota's campus and spent more time with the Gopher coaches. The conversations at dinner last night were good as we not only talked about football, but personal things also. My first impression of Minnesota's campus was that it was amazing. It's right by downtown and there's plenty of things to do, I enjoyed it a lot. Their facilities were nice too, and they'll be finished building the new ones next year, and I'm excited about that. I love TCF Bank Stadium and the locker room is huge, it's just mind blowing."
"I talked a lot with coach Burns and Simon today on campus," Gibson explained to Scout.com. "Coach Burns and I just talked about the visit and what I thought and things like that. Same goes for coach Simon. Coach Fleck asked about the tour and what I thought of Minnesota overall and if I enjoyed my time there. As far as my commitment went, I told coach Fleck before I felt to head home. I said, "Thank you for believing in me, and I'd like to say that I believe in you, and I'd like to commit to the University of Minnesota." He was excited and full of energy after I told him, and he said that I made his day."
Gibson is now done with recruiting and ready to be at Minnesota.
"I'd say my favorite part of the visit today was getting to talk to coach Fleck about my decision," Gibson said. "I wanted to tell him that I wanted to be a Gopher and I wanted to do it in person because I wouldn't be able to visit again for some time. My family loved Minnesota and they think it's a great fit for me too. I'm done with the recruiting process now as I'm set with Minnesota."
