"I put on a show for the coaches today," Georgia wide receiver Rashod Bateman said to GopherIllustrated.com. "Coming into this afternoon's camp, Minnesota had just told me about the things I can accomplish there on and off the field and that they were looking forward to working with me. So today, coach P.J. Fleck came to evaluate me and I impressed them. I worked with coach Fleck and wide receivers' coach Matt Simon, and we had very good conversations after camp and they offered me."
"Coach Fleck told me he was very impressed me," Bateman explained. "He said I have a long way to go still, but he was very impressed and had to have me. He talked with me and my mom about the offer afterwards, and I committed as that's what we felt comfortable with. The coaches went crazy. I guess what made me want to commit on the spot was their coaching staff is just phenomenal and it's a great place to be. I'll be playing receiver at Minnesota as coach Fleck loves my hands and explosiveness."
Bateman also had a Big Ten basketball offer, but football will be his sole focus now.
"It wasn't that hard to pick football over basketball as I just love football more," Bateman said. "I haven't visited Minnesota yet, but I'm coming up there soon. I'm now done with the recruiting process as I won't camp or visit anywhere else. I want Gopher fans to know we are about to change Minnesota football forever!"
