"I got to do a ton of different things today at Minnesota," Pennsylvania tight end Hayden Rucci said to GopherIllustrated. "My visit was super cool as we toured anything and everything at UM! I got to see the new indoor facility they're building with a personal hard hat tour, the stadium, the weight room, you name it. I also sat down and talked with coach P.J. Fleck for a while, which was awesome to meet him in person. I talked with offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca as well as meeting a bunch of the other coaches. Minnesota's campus was pretty cool since I had never really seen it before, so it was a cool first experience. The new facilities are going to be incredible once they are finished, and I'm very impressed with the University's dedication to the football team. Weather-wise, it was a great day out today so nothing to worry about currently! But weather is not a problem for me as I love the snow and cold. I snowboard as much as I can."
"I talked mostly with OC Kirk Ciarrocca and head coach PJ Fleck while on the visit," Rucci explained to Scout. "Coach Ciarrocca and I mainly talked about the scheme and how I would fit into the Minnesota offense and about match-ups for me. Coach Ciarrocca said I'd be a versatile tight end with the ability to block the edge and still go up and make catches for them. With coach Fleck, we had a awesome and long conversation about Minnesota football and life. A lot of their principles tie into things that can be applied to everyday life which is a cool thing to see. We also talked about the recruiting process and picking a school that's right for me. My family and I were all very impressed with the attentiveness of all Gopher coaches that we came across and what they have to offer academically. I'd say my favorite part of the visit was spending a lot of time with Coach Fleck and my family, as he sat with us for over an hour and was very genuine. We had some good conversations about not only football but life as well."
There's a long way to go in Rucci's recruiting process, but the Gophers made a good first impression.
"I'm still very early in the process, that being said I appreciate the time that was spent with me today and I learned a lot about the future of Minnesota football," Rucci told GopherIllustrated. "I'll be visiting Ohio State tomorrow, but after that, my visit schedule is cleared up."
