Gopher FB target commits to Big Ten rival

6-2 wide receiver Brandon Whittington of Collingswood (NJ) High has committed to Purdue. Whittington made his offical visit this weekend to West Lafayette. The Minnesota Gophers had offered him a scholarship.

Brandon Whittington choose Purdue over Big Ten rivals Wisconsin and Minnesota. He picked the Boilermakers since they are more of a passing team than the Badgers and Gophers. Whittington has excellent strength and speed. He runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and bench pressed 235 pounds and squats 325 pounds. Whittington is a good student as he has a 3.1 GPA and an 1000 score on the SAT.

Due to facing double-teaming this season, Whittington has caught just four passes for 99 yards, but he has scored three touchdowns. He had 26 catches for 455 yards and five scores last season.
