Senior Cassie Busse of Prior Lake was named Big Ten co-Player of the Week for her efforts in the Gophers' victories at Iowa and Wisconsin last week.
Busse, who has won the award three times in her Gopher career, averaged 4.9 kills, 2.0 digs and 1.6 blocks per game as Minnesota beat Iowa 3-0 and No. 21 Wisconsin 3-2. Last week, Minnesota's Erin Martin won the award.
Busse is now 10th on the school's all-time kills list with 1,172 in her career. The Gophers (11-7, 4-2 in the Big Ten) play at Ohio State on Friday and at Penn State on Saturday before returning home for four straight Big Ten matches.
Football back on ESPN: The painful collapse against Michigan on Friday at least has one silver lining -- it showed a national TV audience that the Gophers are an entertaining team to watch.
ESPN's bigwigs rewarded the No. 19 Gophers by picking up Saturday's 11 a.m. contest against No. 18 Michigan State. The game will be aired on ESPN2.
Check back at GoldenSportsNet.com on Thursday for a preview of the game and a look ahead at the Gophers' Rose Bowl aspirations.
