U Women Picked For National Training Trip

Five current University of Minnesota women's hockey players have been selected to participate at the 2004 U.S. Women's Hockey National Team Training Trip, announced by USA Hockey.

Natalie Darwitz, Krissy Wendell, Jody Horak, Kelly Stephens, and Lyndsay Wall will compete at the camp from Dec. 27-Jan. 1, 2004 at the Colorado Springs World Arena in Colorado Springs. Former Golden Gopher Winny Brodt will also participate in the training camp.

The camp serves as a stepping stone in naming the 2004 U.S. Women's National Team, which will compete at the Women's World Championship from Mar. 30-April 6 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Of the 36 players, 19 were on the Four Nations Cup team that won the gold medal in Sweden. The Maroon and Gold sported four on the team in Darwitz, Stephens, Wall and Wendell. The camp will also feature 10 Olympians and additional 16 players with U.S. Women's National and/or Select Team experience.
